What is M-Pesa Ntlatse?

A short-term credit facility offered to
customers with insufficient funds to complete
a transaction. M-Pesa users will be able to
request a loan mid-transaction should their
wallets not have enough funds required to
complete that transaction.
Who is the product available to?

The service will be accessed by all M-Pesa
registered customers who have been active
on the Vodacom network for the past 3
months and have registered with correct
names as per ID.

How do I get Ntlatse?

1. Initiate transaction with insufficient funds and enter PIN to authenticate.

- 3. Opt in and accept terms and conditions
- 4. Ntlatse will be granted and the transaction will be completed immediately.
How long can customers have Ntlatse for?
- Ntlatse is given for a day and thereafter earn interest daily. A customer will not get overdraft offers if they reached their overdraft limit.
How do I know how much I owe?
- You will receive an SMS the same day with
details of how much you owe. Thereafter
depending on the amount borrowed, you
will receive an SMS whenever interest is
added to your amount owing.

How do I repay Ntlatse?
- The amount owing will be deducted from your M-Pesa account on the next deposit until the whole amount has been paid off, priority is given to the the oldest Ntlatse if your account allowed more than one.

Business Rules

1. All M-Pesa Customers regardless of which Tier they are on qualify for Ntlatse
2. Eligible customers will be offered Ntlatse to complete most M-Pesa transactions in exception of gambling merchant transactions.
3. Customers will qualify for Ntlatse offers Depending on their M-Pesa Account Usage.
4. Customers can Request Ntlatse to make Payments and Send Money even if they have a zero balance in their Mpesa Wallet.
5. Customers can only request to withdraw for ≤80% of overall transaction amount. i.e. Customer can only get a maximum of M80 Ntlatse to complete M100 withdraw.
6. The total amount payable by the customer will be the accumulated daily interest together with the amount of the Ntlatse that has been provided to the customer.
7. Ntlatse has to be paid the next time the subscriber deposits into their M-Pesa account and such a deduction will automatically take place upon such a deposit. If you have more than one Ntlatse loan the older one will be repaid first, no matter what is the amount for each loan.
8. The Ntlatse Service will adhere to existing M-Pesa transactional limits.

What are the requirements for me to use Ntlatse?
- In order to use Ntlatse you are required to be a M-Pesa customer with a Vodacom line. Hence you need to join through the M-Pesa menu and accept the terms and condition.
How many accounts can I use to join Ntlatse?
- Each M-Pesa customer is allowed to register on account using their ID, so each customer can join Ntlatse using only one account. If you change number your loan will be transferred to your new sim-card.
What are daily tariff charges?
- This is the highest level that you will be able to use in Ntlatse services per month (as per table above). This limit will increase or decrease according to your usage. Constantly repaying and increase use of M-Pesa will lead to the increase of Ntlatse limit. Negative trends will lead to a decline in the limit or lead to termination of the Ntlatse service.
What are the transaction types that can be completed with Ntlatse
- With the improved Ntlatse now you can complete all M-Pesa transactions even with insufficient (includes zero) balance:
How many times will I be able to use Ntlatse?
- You will be able to use the Ntlatse service to complete a single or multi transaction until your limit is reached, when the payout will pay and you will be able to use the most of the Ntlatse services.
How can I utilize my Ntlatse limit?
- You will be required to make M-Pesa transactions as usual and where you have insufficient funds to complete the transaction, Ntlatse will assist to finish that transaction.
Are there any fees or deductions when using Ntlatse?
- While using Ntlatse, a one Time service fee per transaction applies; depending on the amount. There is also a daily service fee based on the outstanding amount and repayment duration.
